Over 80 years of engineering excellence.
Denford Limited, is a historically-rooted British manufacturer of CAD/CAM machinery and technology, and traces its origins back to World War II.

Denford Engineering was Founded
Horace Stanley Frederick Denford, the grandfather of the current Chief Executive, Andrew Denford, established Denford Engineering.
An accomplished engineer, Horace relocated from London to Halifax to avoid the wartime bombings.
Towards the end of the war, he set up Denford Engineering in Halifax, producing a variety of engineering inspection/measuring devices and tool holders.

Lathe Manufacturing Commences
Denford expanded their manufacturing to Box Tree Mills where "Denford Machine Tools" was born, and the production of two compact precision bench lathes, commenced.
These lathes were marketed at approximately £175 and saw a production of over 400 units.

Expansion and Relocation
In the 1950s, Denford moved its manufacturing operations to Brighouse.
By the decade’s end, Denford was producing a range of metal and wood turning lathes, tool sharpening equipment, grinders, and polishers.
Viceroy lathes (wood and metal) manufactured by Denford can still be found in school Design & Technology Departments today.

Denford Enters the CNC Era
Horace’s son, Gerald Denford, took over the company in 1962 and played a crucial role in steering the company into the CNC machine tool era.
This legacy continued until Gerald’s son, Andrew (the present Chief Executive and third generation of the family) took over in 1987, further developing new technologies for education and training.

Further Growth and Purpose Built Facility
In December 2010, Denford moved to a new purpose-designed 18,500 sq. ft facility at Armytage Road, Brighouse.
The new premises incorporate the company’s manufacturing facilities, including 3,200 sq. ft of office space, as well as a dedicated showroom, along with demonstration, and training facility.

Product Range Expansion
Denford has expanded its product range to include the design and manufacture of a comprehensive selection of CNC mills, lathes, and routers specifically designed for education. Denford machines are a familiar fixture in Design and Technology and Engineering laboratories around the world.
New product development remains a key strategy for Denford with continuous updates to products, maintaining the tradition of design and manufacturing firmly rooted in Brighouse, West Yorkshire.

The Legacy Continues
With three of Gerald’s grandchildren now working for the company, the family legacy continues. Key plans for the future include:
- Expanding Product Lines
- Enhancing Global Reach
- Promoting Sustainability
